The Coral Conservation in the UK Overseas Territories (C-COT) Working Group was initially established as a collaborative effort to bring together six Caribbean and Western Atlantic UK Overseas Territories (OTs) to address an aggressive coral disease found spreading around reefs in the Caribbean.
The C-COT Roadmap was developed through in-depth consultations with members of the Coral Conservation in the UK Overseas Territories (C-COT) Working Group, representing the six Caribbean and Western Atlantic UK Overseas Territories (OTs). This Roadmap details the future ambitions of the C-COT group, and priority focus areas moving forward.
While the focus of the group in the past was predominantly Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD) response, due to the significance of other threats to Caribbean Western Atlantic reefs, the Roadmap outlines a shift in focus to address more general reef concerns and monitor the overall health of UKOT reefs. The group will continue to operate in a collaborative way, with cross-OT and regional knowledge sharing and support as key themes for the C-COT group.
The C-COT group is funded by the UK government and has been supported by the Darwin Plus grant scheme for the past three years, which also funded the production of this output.
