Background Information
Rare’s coastal fisheries initiative, Fish Forever, uses an innovative behavior-centered approach to strengthen community-led coastal fisheries management and restore marine ecosystems.
Together with partners and local leaders, we leverage biological, behavioral, and social sciences to catalyze protection and sustained management of coastal waters through: 1) legal and regulatory conditions to secure preferential rights and enable community-led management; 2) tools, training and data to strengthen management capacity; 3) localized financial resilience, and 4) Coastal 500, a global network of local leaders. This approach helps sustain fisheries production, build coordinated advocacy among governments, and elevate the voices of coastal fishers.
