Although the 35th ICRI General Meeting was held virtually (for the very first time) due to the to COVID-19 pandemic, around 130 participants from 60 out of the 90 ICRI members turned up and participated in a productive and interesting meeting.
A number of key outcomes of the 35th ICRI General Meeting include:
- 3 new members were welcomed into ICRI; the Coral Restoration Consortium, European Union and Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium
- The Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network report on the Status and Trends of coral reefs of the world will be published at the end of March 2021
- The following documents were adopted during the meeting:
- Resolution to extend the ICRI Ad Hoc Committee on Resilience-based Management (PDF file)
- Resolution to extend the ICRI Ad Hoc Committee on coral reef restoration and adaptation research and development (PDF file)
- Resolution to extend the ICRI Ad Hoc Committee on the inclusion of a coral reef-related target in the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (PDF file)
- It was announced that the 6th International Tropical Marine Ecosystems Management Symposium has been cancelled
- The United States of America will be the next chair of the ICRI Secretariat
