Led by ICRI and GFCR at the occasion of the 2025 UN Ocean Conference.

The UNOC3 Reef Action Hub will kick off with a high-level opening segment led by ICRI, providing a comprehensive overview of the state of coral reefs, featuring the latest scientific data, and highlighting key policy and financing priorities.
The day will then unfold through thematic sessions, each showcasing scalable, science-based solutions and financial innovations under the following themes:
- Reducing Pollution & Curbing Overextraction
- Expanding & Enhancing Protected and Locally Managed Areas
- Accelerating Ecosystem Restoration
- Advancing Sustainable Ecotourism
- Developing Resilient & Nature-Based Coastal Infrastructure
- Driving Financial Innovation for Ocean Conservation
Each session will feature high-level openings, expert and entrepreneur pitches, interactive discussions, and presentations of replicable solutions for coral reef conservation and resilience. Designed to foster cross-sector knowledge exchange and inform policymakers and funders, the Hub will serve as a catalyst for holistic coral action.
The Reef Action Hub will conclude with a high-level leadership session, where key announcements will be elevated by public, private, and philanthropic leaders, followed by a networking reception to encourage further collaboration.
To ensure a fully inclusive space that enables the widest breadth of stakeholder presentation and engagement – including local actors, indigenous leaders, conservation and financial experts, coral state representatives, donors, and investors we invite you to submit innovative actions and announcements for consideration.
This is your opportunity to showcase your solutions and initiatives to a global audience of policymakers, scientists, industry leaders, and ocean conservation advocates. Whether through a 2-4 minute pitch or an announcement of significant developments, your contribution can help drive positive change and inspire further action within the international community #ForCoral.

The overarching theme of the 2025 UN Ocean Conference (UNOC) is “Accelerating action and mobilising all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean” for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG14) by relevant stakeholders and actors, both public and private.
The conservation of coral reefs is a critical pillar for achieving the sustainable development targets of the 2030 Agenda, extending beyond SDG14 to support global efforts on climate resilience, food security, economic stability, and biodiversity conservation in line with the Global Biodiversity Framework. Protecting and restoring coral ecosystems strengthens coastal resilience, safeguards livelihoods, enhances marine biodiversity, and contributes to sustainable blue economies, making it an essential investment in a thriving, equitable, and sustainable future for people and the planet.
Building on the success of the first “Reef Action Hub”, in 2022, the 2025 edition, led by the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) and Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR), will host a series of coral-focused events aimed at accelerating global action for coral reefs. By spotlighting innovative solutions and fostering cross-sector collaboration, the Hub will serve as a powerful catalyst for transformative progress, ensuring a sustainable future #ForCoral.
As 2025 marks the critical midpoint of the 2030 global agenda, the Hub will emphasise the urgency of continued action. It will be a vital space where stakeholders can exchange ideas, strengthen commitments, and celebrate the impactful initiatives that are driving us forward for the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of coral reef ecosystems around the world.
