Reef Resilience Network: Upcoming Mentored Courses

The Reef Resilience Network’s (RRN) online courses have been designed to provide easy access to the latest science and strategies for managing coral reefs in a changing climate. All courses are free and self-paced. This year, RRN look forward to offering two mentored courses with online lessons available in multiple languages: the Coral Reef Restoration Online Course and the Management Effectiveness for Marine Protected Areas Online Course.

Please save the dates and keep an eye out for instructions on how to enrol in each course, which is coming soon.

Coral Reef Restoration

September 29 – October 31, 2025

The Network, in partnership with the Coral Restoration Consortium, is hosting a five-week mentored version of the recently updated Coral Reef Restoration Online Course. The seven online lessons provide coral reef managers and practitioners with best practice guidance for common coral reef restoration techniques. The mentored course will include live webinars and discussion forums with global restoration experts, along with exclusive podcast episodes and videos highlighting stories from the field. The live webinars will be offered in English, and the online lessons can be taken in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.

Management Effectiveness for MPAs

November 10 – December 12, 2025

The Network is launching a new Management Effectiveness for Marine Protected Areas Online Course. The five lessons center around key steps in the management cycle and cover topics such as enabling factors that drive MPA effectiveness, critical components of success, and how assessments and best practices can be applied to local contexts. The four-week mentored course will support participants as they take the self-paced lessons and will feature a mix of theoretical and practical lessons, field applications, expert-led webinars, and support from mentors in an online discussion forum. The live webinars will be offered in English, and the online lessons can be taken in Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, English, French, and Spanish.
