These simple, user-friendly guidelines have been developed by the Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies (CERMES) at The University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, to assist coastal and marine resource practitioners and managers to apply the Spatial Socio-economic Monitoring for Coastal Management (SocMon Spatial) tool. They complement the regional SocMon guidelines and the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN) Socio-economic Manual for Coral Reef Management and should be used together with them when developing any socio-economic assessment or monitoring programme.
