With the recent development of the tourism industry and the heavy pressure on the natural resources, the use and conflicts around marine resources have significantly increased. Coastal legislation, institutional management, management structures and policy decisions are critical in the care of natura l resources and well‐being of population living in these areas. In this light, Belize has made some progress in terms of Integrated Coastal Management, but which, considering that it has not been enforced for several years, has had many problems in the implementation measures.
