Mirpuri Foundation

The Mirpuri Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating a better world for future generations, working across six key areas: Marine Conservation, Wildlife Conservation, Performing Arts, Medical Research, Aerospace Research, and Social Responsibility. By fostering collaboration among global authorities, companies, communities, and individuals, the Foundation strives to address the most pressing environmental challenges. Over the years, it has grown into an influential institution, setting high standards, leading by example, and sharing best practices to drive meaningful change.
Marine Conservation has always been a core focus of the Mirpuri Foundation, with a particular emphasis on coral reef protection. In 2018, during the International Year of the Reef, the Foundation launched the Save the Coral Reefs campaign, using an Airbus A380 as a flying canvas to raise global awareness of the urgent need to protect these fragile ecosystems. This initiative was supported by a digital campaign aimed at educating the public on coral reef conservation.
Further strengthening its commitment, the Mirpuri Foundation became a member of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) in 2019, joining a global partnership dedicated to preserving coral reefs and related ecosystems. In addition, the Foundation was welcomed as an advisory member of the Global Coral Reef R&D Accelerator Platform (CORDAP), a G20 initiative focused on advancing research and development in coral reef restoration.
The Foundation’s work extends beyond advocacy to hands-on initiatives. The Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy, a prestigious regatta, was created to highlight the importance of protecting the ocean. As part of its second edition, the Foundation introduced The Ocean Award, an international sustainability prize recognizing excellence in marine conservation. Many of the awarded projects have focused on coral reef protection and restoration.
Educational outreach is also a key pillar of the Foundation’s work. Through workshops at the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Academy, young sailors are taught about the significance of coral reefs and the role they play in marine ecosystems.
Public engagement remains a priority, with initiatives such as the Tips to Save Coral Reefs campaign, which offered practical guidance on how individuals can contribute to reef conservation. Through these efforts, the Mirpuri Foundation continues to be at the forefront of coral reef protection, working towards a future where these vital ecosystems are preserved for generations to come.
